Man Extradited Back To DC, Charged For Shooting That Left MD Landscaper Dead

Police say that a man has been brought back to Washington, DC following the fatal shooting of a 57-year-old Maryland man last fall.

In December last year, US Marshals arrested 21-year-old Jamari Payne, who has no fixed address, in Pennsylvania in connection to the murder of Silver Spring resident Bacilio Villatoro, authorities announced.

On Tuesday, Aug. 15, the Metropolitan Police Department announced that he had been extradited back to DC, where he was charged with second-degree murder while armed. 

The arrest comes in connection to the murder of Villatoro on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2022, in the 3000 block of Adams Street NE.

According to investigators, at approximately 12:40 p.m. on the day of the shooting, officers from the department were called to the site of the shooting, where they found Villatoro suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

He was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.

Payne was arrested in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in December last year, and he was brought back to face charges for the shooting on Tuesday, officials said.

No information about his initial court appearance was released by the department.
